End-to-End Metrics for Video Conferencing
The Wireless Intelligence Platform™ (WIP) Video Conference Test measures key, end-to-end metrics to determine how capable a wireless network is of supporting video platforms.
How does the test work?
This network test will run a UDP traffic pattern that simulates the pattern of the chosen video conferencing tool. It will start with the WIP sensor, travel to the cloud, and then back.
With the test’s results, IT professionals will know if and how the network needs to be optimized to support high-quality video transmissions. WIP is entirely remote-capable, allowing IT to troubleshoot and resolve video issues from any location, at any time.
What analytics are returned?
Latency: This is the time it takes for a data packet to travel from sender to receiver. The WIP platform will calculate this for both upstream and downstream transmissions.
Jitter: WIP’s network test measures packet-to-packet delay variation. As a rule of thumb, for a data intensive task like video streaming, jitter should be less than 30 milliseconds.
Dropped Packets: Packet loss will impact the connectivity, availability, and performance of video conferencing applications.
MOS Score: The Mean Opinion Score ranks the quality of your voice and video sessions and is a fair approximation of end user experience. Latency, jitter, and packet loss must all be low for a high quality score.
Scheduled and Automatic
IT can schedule the test to run regularly, or run it on demand whenever a need arises. All results are automatically saved, and IT receives real-time alerts and root cause identification if the test fails in any way.
Like all of WIP’s tests, summary data and test results are provided per location.
What video platforms are supported?
All of the major video conferencing platforms can be tested, including:
- Zoom
- Google Meet
- Microsoft Teams
- Cisco Webex
Why end-to-end?
If there’s an issue at any point along the data path, your end users – employees, clients, customers, and partners – will be negatively impacted. IT teams need complete visibility into the entire network ecosystem in order to identify and resolve issues with pinpoint accuracy. That accuracy is provided with our end-to-end tests. From latency to jitter, switches to devices, we test it all.
